You may have heard of trail angels, and we have just experienced life with travel angels. At the end of week three in Asia we met up with Adam's high school/college friends Lisa and Tom, who are originally from Chicago.
We got to spend an awesome night having an amazing dinner and rooftop cocktails on a super clear night in Shanghai. One of the best parts of the night was getting to catch up with some like minded expats who are thriving in Shanghai, travel exotically and think about the world and the states in a very similar fashion to us. We had so many laughs!
Two days later they loaned us their driver who brought us over to their house so we could do LAUNDRY (a huge gift to us road warriors) and have a nice SALAD for lunch (food we've only been brave enough to crave in Asia). We got to watch some of the cubs games and feel like normal humans for a day. Thank you so much Tom and Lisa!
We met Jodie and Meredith on the Great Wall of China and though Kiwi, they live in Melbourne. They took us out to dinner our first night in Australia then hosted us when we were passing through for two nights between the Great Ocean Road and Cairns.
It was so nice to have a local experience with great restaurants, insights about free tram in the CBD, etc. and even a ride to the airport. Let's just say, friends for life. Our Melbourne experience was made all that it was by Jodie and Meredith. Thanks!
We met Jodie and Meredith on the Great Wall of China. Though Kiwi, they took us into their home in Melbourne and helped us experience this awesome city as locals; taking us out to dinner the first night we were in Australia, then to an awesome underground bar with pisco sours at the top of the menu was just the beginning. On our way back through Melbourne we got to stay with them, seeing a bit more of the greater Melbourne area and learning about the ins and outs of life in Australia. Thanks for all the laughs!
Friends for life.
